PHILIP ANSELMO Gives Conditional Thumbs-Up To JUDAS PRIEST Reunion
July 23, 2003PANTERA/SUPERJOINT RITUAL singer Philip Anselmo, a close friend of JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford during the early '90s, is excited that the classic PRIEST lineup is getting back together.
Anselmo and SUPERJOINT RITUAL bandmate drummer Joe Fazzio say they are pleased by the news and hope the band is not doing it just for the money.
Fazzio: "That's great news." Anselmo: "It's great news. I just hope it's for the right reasons. Period." Fazzio: "I heard they were doing a new album." Anselmo: "I'm a fan."
In related news, Anselmo once again addressed the topic of PANTERA during a show at Jaxx in West Springfield, Virginia last week.
Speaking to the audience during one of his lengthy between-song rants, Anselmo said, "those guys [the other members of PANTERA] wanted everything so tight, so perfect. I like to do things fast and off-the-cuff. That's what SUPERJOINT RITUAL is all about." Says an attendee, "He also made fun of LINKIN PARK by doing a rap rendition with his arms flailing saying 'Yo' and shit like that while Fazzio kept a 'fresh' rap beat for him. He also dedicated [the SUPERJOINT song] 'It Takes No Guts' to METALLICA."
